By JOELIBERT M. MARCELINO, Managing Partner, Cavite Branch
My career with MAPECON started in 1994 when I met a MAPECON service technician while on duty as a security guard in Makati. I asked him if there is a job opening at MAPECON and he said yes. So I went to MAPECON head office, applied as a service technician and was fortunately hired. As a service technician, I learned all the different services offered by MAPECON, got familiar with the products and their features. These became an advantage when, after three months, I was transferred to the Marketing Department where I was trained as a Junior Account Executive. Perseverance and hard work, combined with my background in Entomology as a graduate of Agriculture led to my promotion as Senior Account Executive. I become a member of the Millionaires’ Club, was awarded a trip to the branch twice, a trip to Boracay and other incentives. In 2000, I was given a break as Area Manager – Area West. This is where I learned how to handle not just accounts but people as well. It was also then when Mr. Jun Catan offered me the joint venture in Cavite. As preparation for this big step, I was assigned as manager of the branch in Bacolod. I stayed there for eight months, learning the ins and outs of the branch operation.
We started the operations in Cavite in September 2002. I handled the operations with the assistance of my brother as technician while my wife Manette handled the administrative and financial matters. Our service vehicle was an owner type jeep bought with our savings. Payment for office rental and other office supplies and equipments were cut from the family budget.
I remember our first big break. It was the rest house of then Senator Freddie Webb in Tagaytay. I was able to buy a brand new motorbike using my separation pay from MAPECON-Head Office. Our clients grew in number little by little with the help of referrals from satisfied customers and regular area saturation.
At present, MAPECON-Cavite has eleven personnel including one service supervisor, a bookkeeper, a service staff, one account executive and six technicians. We have three service vehicles and three motorcycles. We now have regular clients including Riviera Golf & Country Club, Sherwood Golf & Country Club, Days Hotel, Olivarez Country Hotel, Hotel Dominique, Microtel Suites and the latest addition is the Casino Filipino in Tagaytay City which contribute to our annual gross revenue of P5,160,000.
Amidst mushrooming pest control companies in the area, MAPECON-Cavite continues to grow and dominate the market, proving that the formula for success is prayers, hard work, perseverance and dedication.
THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!
